COLLEGE-BY-COLLEGE PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS


Below are the entry criteria by programme cluster from HUST’s academic catalogue and departmental pages:


1. College of Business, Law & Educational Sciences

Mass Communication

  • UTME: Credit passes including Mathematics, English Language, Literature in English/Government + 2 other arts subjects.
  • Direct Entry: 5 credits + 2 relevant subjects at IJMB/JUPEB OR first degree in related field. 

Accounting

  • UTME: Credit passes including Mathematics, English + any 3 from Principles of Accounting, Commerce, Economics, etc.
  • Direct Entry: 5 credits + 2 advanced level subjects with relevant commercial subjects OR first degree. 

Economics

  • UTME: Credit passes including Mathematics, English, Economics + 2 other commercial subjects.
  • Direct Entry: 5 credits + at least 2 social science CR in IJMB/JUPEB OR related first degree. 

Logistics & Supply Chain Management

  • UTME: 5 credit passes including Mathematics and English + 3 arts/social science subjects.
  • Direct Entry: 5 credits OR ND/HND in relevant field with required credit levels. 


2. College of Engineering & Computing Science

For all Engineering and Computing programmes:


Computer Science, Data Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering

  • UTME: Acceptable JAMB score + 5 credits including English, Mathematics, Physics & other relevant science subjects (max 2 sittings).
  • Direct Entry: ND/NCE with credit + 5 SSC credits (English, Mathematics, Physics). 

Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical, Systems, Mechatronics & Industrial/Production Engineering

  • UTME: Acceptable JAMB score + 5 credits including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and relevant others (no more than 2 sittings).
  • Direct Entry: ND in relevant engineering tech OR 2 passes at Advanced Level (Maths, Physics, Chemistry)/IJMB/JUPEB to enter 200L. 


3. Tristate College of Medicine & Health Sciences

Most health science and medicine departments require similar science combinations:


Optometry, Audiology, Nutrition & Dietetics, Med Lab Science, Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Nursing & Pharmaceutical Sciences

  • UTME & Direct Entry: Acceptable UTME score + 5 credits including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English Language at SSCE/NECO/WAEC (max 2 sittings).
  • Direct Entry: 2 A-Level/IJMB/JUPEB passes in relevant science subjects at not less than B grade OR related first degree (BSc/HND), or professional RN/RM for Nursing. 

Medicine & Surgery (MBBS) and Dentistry (BDS)

  • UTME: Acceptable UTME score + 5 credits in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language in one sitting for Medicine & Dentistry.

Direct Entry: 3 A-Level/IJMB/JUPEB passes in science subjects (grade B+) OR OND (Upper Credit) OR related first degree (BSc/HND) to enter 200 Level.
